Why Is Social Emotional Learning Important for Students

Social-emotional learning helps students develop in many different ways. It not only helps them resolve daily conflicts, but it also helps them relate to their feelings along with the feelings of others.

There are five core skills according to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning.

  • Self Awareness
  • Self Management
  • Social Awareness
  • Relationship Skills
  • Responsible Decision Making

All of these skills are linked to having a more healthy and productive life. Our personal and professional lives depend on our ability to acquire these skills, which can be taught.

One of the strategies for developing these skills is to read books that contain social-emotional scenarios.
