There are several things you should consider when looking to secure a speaker for your event. This is one of the most important decisions that you can make in terms of determining the success or failure of your event!

Think about events you have gone to where the speak is complety boring and unengaging. We have all witnessed the speaker who you can tell has given the same speech with the same jokes millions of times. No matter how well the speech is executed, nobody is really inspired. Are you looking to have an event that is mediocre? Of course not! This is why I would like to present a few tips of finding the perfect speaker for your event.

1. Make Sure That They Tailor The Speech To Your Audience

There is nothing worst than having to listen to a speech that has nothing to do with your audience or the overall theme for your event. Make sure that the speaker you choose at least has some knowledge of the overall expereince of your audience or they are willing to learn so that they can weave the experiences of the audience into their message.

2. Do Your Research

Besides just watching youtube videos of a speaker, make sure that you do your research beyond just how they present. How do they conduct themselves before and most especially after the event. Are they the speaker that delivers a speech and leaves as soon as they’re done, or do they go the extra mile to spend time with the audience?

3. Start Searching Early

As a speaker there it is always challenging when you are contacted by an organization to speak when the event is only one to two weeks away. This gives a bad maessage to the speaker. like you are just looking to fill a slot. Nobody wants to feel that way in their profession. Start reaching out to a speaker you are considering at least 2-4 months in advance from the day of the event. This will give you plenty of time to iron out the details and to get funding just in case you need it to secure the speaker for your event.

These are just a few tips that I beleive will help you as you find a speaker for your event. Please feel free to reach out if I can ever help you!
